The Bird Gardens of Naples: Part 2

"People are crying up the rich and variegated plumage of the peacock, and he is himself blushing at the sight of his ugly feet."  Saadi

I'm happy to sprinkle beauty-salt over an unsavory time in America: sponsored by The Bird Gardens of Naples

The peacock might be the most beautiful bird in the world. If you don't agree, follow my feet...

No if, and or butts...beautiful.

Happier times.

I still love this guy! A Hyacinth Macaw.

This photo is real - not a painting. Sigh.

"Genius and virtue are to be more often found clothed in gray than peacock bright." Van Wyck Brooks

What a great collection of birds and feathers. I agree, we need to look at the beauty around us during these awful times.

If I was a painter, I would want to try to paint that last photo! They are all just gorgeous. What wonderful close ups of the birds and of course the peacock is a prize! Enjoy your day!

Sharon - you may be right about the peacock as the most beautiful bird. God was waxing creative when he dreamed up this specimen! Most folks focus on the feathers with the "eyes", but I like the "back" of the bird, with those layered feathers in such an organized, symmetrical pattern. Amazing. (and I can't ignore the other birds - they are stunning too!) Thanks for the distraction - I really needed it today, and perhaps it helped others at Mosaic Monday. (By the way, I am deeply grateful for your faithful participation in MM - it means so much to me!)

Peacocks are beautiful, but they can be really noisy. When we lived in Pomona, California, a pair somehow adopted our neighbourhood and would cry us awake in the morning. I'm not sure what happened to them, I guessing animal control came to take them away, at least I hope so. - Margy

I love all your birds. We have friends who live out in the country and they have peacocks. Not only are they beautiful but they are funny. Our friends have tolerant neighbors a few hundred feet away. The birds roost on their roof at night and come back in the day.

We saw a white peacock in Italy. Very beautiful. I smiled to see the Australian pink and grey galah in your post. Happy travels and thank you for the link up. It is my first time visiting.
