Drake Bay, Costa Rica
Fins up!
We launched with Utopia Drake Outdoors into the deep blue sea. Drake
Bay is wild and remote, and you’ll find it way down south near Panama.
After you leave the highway to Puerto Jimenez, en route to Drake Bay, you’re in
for a bumpy, steep, and jaw jangling ride. But on the plus side, we did see scarlet macaws on the
return trip.
Cano Island had been on our Costa Rica bucket list for years. A
whale flapped its tail during the boat ride, and once we jumped into the island
waters, we saw many sharks, big fish, leatherback and hawksbill sea turtles. The
water was murky, but full of sights. It's hard to swim and take photos at the same time, but I snapped and snorkeled until my camera ran out of gas.

Sea Turtles!
We got the best sightings from the boat when they surfaced for air.
