Little Havana , Miami

A lonely suitcase sits at the base of a tree in Little Havana.

It's Halloween month at Sharon's Souvenirs!

The world doesn't need a spooky Halloween to scare us this year. Even so, I've lined up a month of spine chilling posts. Okay, that's a huge exaggeration - especially today. The scariest thing that happened in little Havana was the food poisoning that ravaged my gut afterwards. Was it the delicious Cuban sandwich from Old Havana's Bar and Cocina? Or was it the the meal we had the night before at La Carreta? (It sure tasted good) Maybe it was a residual haunting from the key lime doughnut that was devilishly good and quite possibly, worth the bacterial possession.

Make tracks to the end of the post for a tepid scare...

Mary Shelley, "Frankenstein"

"There is something at work in my soul, which I do not understand."

We had lunch inside a chicken coop.

"Please don't step on me. I didn't poop in your sandwich and give you food poisoning. Honest," peeped the chick.

"I pooped in your sandwich," said the rooster, in a low, gravely voice.

A creepy clown mural greats tourists in little Havana, Miami. Boo!

Stay tuned for more...

"I have this fear of clowns, so I think that if I surround myself with them, it will ward off all evil." Johnny Depp

Oh my, Sharon! There is nothing worse than food poisoning when on vacation. I hope you did not suffer long.

To me, about 16 years ago it was an Arby's "Market Fresh Sandwich" that did me in. My digestive system took a month before I thought I'd be okay again.
