Playa Corona

I hope you'll continue your virtual trip with me, as I leave the verdant mountains of Boquete behind and travel to the sizzling shores of Playa Corona. It was 6 grueling hours away by car, and eagerly awaited, in beautiful Panama this year. Every day we wandered the beach at low tide. And cooled off in the tide pools created by a rocky coast. It was an amazing beach.

Sunrise over the ocean enchanted in the morning and a well salted sky of stars mesmerized at night. Sandwiched in-between all of that, there was plenty of sun and sand.

A stairs to nowhere...

An unusual jelly fish. They are so other worldly.

Birds and butterflies delighted. In fact, other than our beach dog (that we named Caracol) and avian skies, there were very few humans. Heaven.

I brought one of these home and use it as a soap dish.

We were bathing in a tide pool, when an osprey dropped his lunch. We wandered over to the base of the cliff and this puffer was the unfortunate, discarded meal.

You never know what will turn up at the beach....

So please stand by for many more calm and balmy Playa Corona posts!

And this week, over at The Chorus of the Crows,

I'm splintering open my travel log. And all that happened there...

Again I'm loving your pictures. I sure enjoyed walking through the playa with you. I think I picked up some sand fleas, though. :-)

I'm trying to imagine your soap dish; lovely.
I would like to go barefoot on the beach it's so healthy for the feet, but the beach presents us with surprises that are not always good for this kind of walking.
I love your pictures.

Just wonderful, Sharon! Hey, no talking bad about your photography skills! I have been amazed at so many of your photos! Go ahead and enter the B&B contest. I have only the occasional excellent shot to pick from but I entered what I could. I would think you'd have much more to choose from. This is such a lovely post! Beautiful beach photos! We lived on Midway Island when I was a child and oh how I long for some REAL photos of that place, but back then our inefficient cameras were all we had, plus a feeing that most pictures should be of people, not things. I have those wonderful things stored in my brain...but alas, so few photos of anything from then!:-(

How about a new book review on Magnolia?

Take care...Marie

I always enjoy taking virtual trips with you. The jelly fish is interesting, and I have never seen a puffer fish in its natural environment... or well, dropped out of its natural environment ;-). Great post!!

What a beautiful beach! We visited a beach in Panama, it was nice, but it wasn't anything memorable. I prefer the beach you have presented in here.

That jelly fish is pretty cool, fun color for something you don't want to step on. That's a puffer fish? Aren't they supposed to be delicious?

I grew up one block from the Atlantic Ocean, and spent lots of time there but never did I ever see a blue jelly fish. Stung lots of times, but not by a blue one. I learned something new today. What a treat for this old gal. genie

Lovely shots of a lovely corner of the world! Love the puffer fish! I'm sure the Osprey didn't know what he was picking up when he got that one!!!

Nothing like a tidal pool to experience all kinds of nature, Sharon.

It's been a long time since I splashed away in one. TOO LONG!

I've read somewhere that puffers are poisonous? Is that true?!!

Wonderful beach scenes. And your bird array is terrific Sharon.

Your contribution for us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin' this weekend has been an awesome experience...thanks!!!

I could stay here forever! It does look like paradise! Is the round porcupine ball a sea urchin? I checked out the bigger pic of the stairs - yes, it leaves one wondering where to?
Thanks so much for sharing all these treasures with SEASONS! Am afraid the normal world will leave you long to go back to this!
Have a great week!
