I caught a Blue Jay at Wood Lake. He is not a "friend" of most birds. But look at his amazing plumage. A beautiful bully.
He looks like a bearded grandpa here.

Thanks wise old Blue Jay for pointing out this quote to me. I hadn't noticed it before.

Pretty images of the bluebird! They are bully's but still great to see! Love the quote! Thank you for linking up with my critter party! enjoy your weekend!
I've never seen colouring like this before, he is beautiful! I can see he'll fit in somewhere in your art.
They're beautiful birds!
One of my favorite birds...a Blue Jay family visits our feeders daily. I've never seen them bullying the other birds, but when the Jays approach the other birds take off. I wonder if it's because of the loud call of the Jays announcing their approach, or is it because the Jays are a good bit larger than the others. Your photos and quote are lovely. Have a good weekend!
He is very beautiful!

He is very beautiful! The tail looks like a stained glass window.
Beautiful bird.
Magnificent creature, and even better quote from Aldo Leopold. :-)
I love the beautiful plumage these birds have, you have captured great shots.
that IS a handsome Blue Jay! Their sound is so annoying but they are exquisite birds!
Fine shots. You've got that right about their bullying ways. We had dozens of them over the winter.. picking on our house.. literally. It turns out they're fond of paint for the calcium it contains. Destructive beasties.. but beautiful.
They are terrible bullies, but so gorgeous. Loved the quote. Hugs, Janet
I didn't realize the beautiful pattern on his feathers! Great shots!
Wonderful photography of the scavenger blue jay ~ they are pretty but as you wrote 'not a friend to other birds ~ Great post for SC and love your header ~ thanks,

we tend to take them (and cardinals) for granted, yet they are so beautiful. :)
Beautiful bird and beautiful photos! I like jays even if they do stir up the other birds. Your pecan pancakes sound yummy too. Nice job on that too!
Beautiful jay shots!
Gorgeous colors and beautiful photos!
We don't have "real" jays out here, but the ones we do have (scrub jay and stellar jay) are also pretty aggressive.
He is a handsome sort!
They are gorgeous birds, but it's true they are bullies.
Great colors and a funny bird.
I so enjoy bluejays. Wishing we had them this far south.
And, I just have to add love the 'jaywalking' title for this post. Clever.
Marvelous capture of this beautiful jay.
Wow. That is a beautiful shot.
Oh look! You're right - he has a beard . . . I've never noticed before - I'll have to watch . . .
Nice picture - and nice words from AL.
And even a Blue Jay has to eat.
