We were out hiking last weekend and spotted a baby chickadee. My husband's favorite bird. This is a baby sitting on a log outside his nest. It is a whole lot easier getting shots of baby birds than adults. They are just waiting around hungry and vulnerable to predators and eager photographers.
The nest was a hole in a near by tree. See the hole?

Sitting... Dull day.

Great captures!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Lovely serie of photos!
Beautiful photos.
A great series of photos and lovely to be able to watch a young bird like that.
Smashing shots of the youngster Sharon.
Cute series on the Chickadee fledgling!
Awwww, what a cutie! I do love chickadees and their call is constantly present in this part of the country. :-)
Chickadees are super duper adorable. Fluffy cutie pies with little black hats!
"Aah," is all we can say 'cause it says it all. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
Oh, they are such fur babies! Well, feather babies. :-) You got some great shots.
Wonderful captures.. so like our Great Tits in the UK.
I adore chickadees too. When we had feeders, it always seemed like they expended more energy than they took in -- darting in for one sunflower seed at a time. they are really fun to watch and how neat to see the babies.
What a cutie!
How sweet! Lovely shots!
what precious, precious photos!

...oh lucky you; indeed a delightful little bird and you picked up such wonderful photos
So cute!
My favourite bird too and so cute.
Great, now I can't get W.C. Field's voice out of my mind :)
Sweet little thing!
Oh my gosh, chickadees are the cutest! Especially the shot of him fluffing his feathers!
Great series.
nice pictures - they do look so unbelievably helpless. I often think about the speed at which bird grow when they come out of the egg - especially when I band waders down here that were eggs in Alaska and Siberia 5 months beforehand!

Such a cool series!! A few weeks ago while I was sitting outside reading, I had a chickadee land on the arm of my chair, & then hop over, & give MY arm a couple of soft, inquisitive pecks before he hopped back, & just sat there, staring at me for about 10 minutes. VERY cool experience!!
such sweet little one. Can´t remember seeing a young of this species. Great to see yours.
What beautiful shots - it's so amazing to see all that feather detail, like the little dishevelled bits sticking up from his head in that last photo :D
