Every year I make 2 calenders for my husband and me. It's always a year in review from our travels. These beautiful photos were from 2009 in Costa Rica. And this Christmas will cover 2010's trip. The only surprise is the choice of photos for each page. And as far as 2011? It's an empty page just waiting to be filled! I can't wait...

Things that go flip flap, flip flap

Blue Morphos are almost impossible to photograph. Once and awhile you see one magically float by and disappear. Just like the story in my last post. But I did catch this little guy hanging around at Hacienda Baru.

This photograph was taken at Pacific Edge in Dominical. Right in front of our cabina. I wonder why one is yellow and one is pink?

All of these photos were taken on a cold, windy and rainy morning at Selvetura in Costa Rica's Cloud Forest. I've nicknamed it Cold Forest. And for good reason. But it is a beautiful area to hike and see exotic birds. But on this particular day, even the moths were trying to stay dry. So while my husband and I were trying to decide if we should brave the elements and hike, we photographed these diverse creatures. By the way, we never did hike. Surprise!

I was going to post some great deer photos I've taken over the Summer and Fall. Then I realized I actually have photos of all the creatures I painted in Dean's Wildlife from last weekend. And as most of you probably know I always relate my art and photos in some way. The first photo is of my cat Baby. She is bossing God around as we speak. The Blue jeans frog was taken on a night hike at Tirimbina, Costa Rica. Do you see his blue jeans? The pheasant photo was taken near Hixton, Wisconsin. The elegant fawn was captured in someone's front yard in Hatfield, Wisconsin. The Owl moth was discovered at Pasado Andrea Cristina in Costa Rica.
