Flovember: Week 4

The highlight of the week was a surreal morning walk on Lover's Key. (I'll devote an entire post to it later on) I arose at sunrise and after a quick bite, crossed over the bay in viscous fog that dissolved the morning fishing boats into ghostly mirages. At one point, a group of male runners emerged from the mist, singing a military song in unison. Below my toes were hundreds of sand dollars, like a bank robbery gone awry. Eventually, the sun burned away the fog and left the air glowing warm and salty.

The week's low point was discovering my favorite benches - not to be confused with beaches - are now backless. What gives? No more leaning back comfortably while reading a good book on my favorite trail. Grrrrrrrr.

Follow my feet...

Beach maintenance. Afterwards, it looked like a pattern of wavy wiggles.

This osprey can barely fly with such a big payload!

I suppose everyone has their own opinion about what constitutes the perfect view, but for me, if I look out my window and see an osprey fly by with a big fish, life is good. Lately, I see them sail by with long coils of nesting material - or snakes!

Sunset over Fort Myers Beach.

One more week!

I also wonder why new backless benches were installed there? Maybe cost savings? I love the Florida Keys. Enjoy your time there! My only travel has been around local Colorado lately--hope it is still OK to link up?

You've got some fantastic shots there. The first one with the fog and the Osprey are brilliant tho. And I love your comment about the sanddollars and the bank robbery. This post really made me smile this morning! Lovely work.

la niebla dificulta el caminar, pero desempeña un buen papel en la toma de fotografías.

OMG. What a beautiful morning it must have been. I love fog. Great shot. We have tractors every morning on our beach for maintenance as well :0)
Stay in health.

I love the shaded boardwalk. So striking. Great shot of the Osprey carrying off a fish!
Here in Tulsa, the homeless people took over the benches in the downtown area so they benches were removed.

Sharon - Sorry for the delay in commenting - I had to make an emergency visit to Ohio to visit my brother in the hospital.

Your prose describing your walk on the beach - it truly transported me! Thank you!

Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
