Costa Rica: 2021

Day 1

I had to take a selfie on the plane, to remember our N95 masks (and my homemade covers) for a time capsule. I used the prisma app to make it more arty.

Day 2

We've arrived at our home-away-from-home: Dominical!

Day 3

A Fiery-billed Aracari in our backyard.

Day 4

Day 5

Day 6

My Centermost read.

Day 7

 A Crested Guan

Day 8

Around 3 bucks.

Day 9

We made it.

We arrived a day late due to snow in Chicago. Needless to say, flying is stressful. It always was, but now, even more so. We're wearing our masks in Costa Rica just like at home. Except, it's a-heck-of-a-lot-hotter with them on. But, there's plenty of open space to run mask-free. The beaches in Dominical are never crowded. Sometimes, there's not another soul for miles of virgin sand. We need a four wheel drive just to get to our jungle cabana. So, it's not crowded up here either. It is crowded in some ways: flocks of late morning swallows traversing the sky, peeping; packs of high flying parrots squawking overhead, landing somewhere in a tasty tree; busy chestnut mandibled toucans, fiery-billed aracaris and oropendolas bouncing around branch and bush; hummingbirds and rainbow colored tanagers of every stripe, plying the flowers below; vultures, bugs and bats watching and waiting.

It's the Garden of Eden.

Hello,

Beautiful photos. You are lucky to live in Costa Rica, it was one of my favorite places to visit! I have not felt comfortable to fly anywhere just yet. Take care, have a great new week!

Gorgeous photos of healing nature, Sharon.

I love your mask. I have a wide face and need some larger masks. Do you remember where you ordered yours?

Love all the photos. Is that a feather in that sunset picture? I couldn't tell if it is or another frond. Beautiful nevertheless. Thank you as always. :-)

How very lovely! Travel is more or less banned here in Europe at the moment.

What a blessing to be able to travel during this difficult time. Love the photos and I'm sure those mask are super sweaty and hot in the sun.

The aracari and guan are neat as I've never seen one. Good idea for memories of this sad and terrible time. Maybe down the line if pandemics occur again, the peoples can learn from what we've done. Or not maybe. lol

I loved the filter you used to make the artsy picture of you with your masks on. Hubby and I visited beautiful Costa Rica in 2019. I am so glad we got the chance to do it before all travel was halted. Our base was Tamarindo. I loved the wildlife we saw and would love to go back when we have a chance. Thanks for sharing these great pics!

I love how the money features wildlife and the environment. And the birds are amazing. Now I have to go to Costa Rica.

Greetings and Salutations!
Day 9 and Day 4 are my favorite photographs. Heat and those masks must be very uncomfortable but you don't need to wear them all the time because there are less people. You are blessed!
