The old section of the city of Flores is located on an island in lake Peten Itza. It's the same lake that our lodging in El Remate was located. Almost 20 miles away! El Remate has almost no restaurants. Luckily, Posada del Cerro, our home away from home, cooked up delicious meals. (usually the manager slash chef welded the spatula just for the two of us) The only other place we ate in town was called Le Arbol. It was fantastic. But had a very limited menu. That's why we ended up below.
Twice...
Do you recognize this restaurant? We did. And look at my smile! I'd never step foot in one back home. This clown was located on the outskirts of Flores.
Other island clowns.
There was a parade during one of our visits. Do you see the guy in blue on the edge of the photograph? He threw a pop snapper down at my feet as he walked by.
The island cab service.
Pony rides in the park!
Vibrant portals.
My favorite restaurant in Flores was San Telmo. They had a killer Piri Piri Curry.
Flores is a great place for lunch and a stroll along the water. Oh, and of course, a photo safari.
P.S. I have a new post over at The Chorus of the Crows! It's about three bold and scrappy book thieves...

Very colourful.
These photos are so lovely! I fell in love with Centra America on my one and only trip to Nicaragua. I'd love to visit more of it!
Amazing place. Brilliant pics.
I don't think I realized how incredibly colorful it is there. Lovely!
Beautiful colour there!
Seems like there is no escaping Ronald McDonald!! Love all the weathered pastel buildings. Beautiful photos!
A menu offering "killer curry" would sure get my attention, but I don't think I'd order it. LOL
Guatemala looks wonderful in your fabulous photos.
