I caught what I think is a young Grebe on Grass Lake last night. I'm not sure if it young or a Grebe. But it has some fluffy feathers. And with my limited knowledge I think it is a grebe. Do any of my unfeathered friends from Wild Bird Wednesday know what it is? I'm sure you do. The air was humid, the lighting was soft and pretty and the birds filled the lake last night. Just the way I like it.
I think it's an adult pied grebe. :) Nice!! They are usually shy birds, therefore not easy to photograph.
Nice reflection, in any case. :-)
Lovely, lovely photo. I love the reflection and the small ripples moving out from him. So peaceful.
Great shot!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
So lovley ,Nette
I'm pretty sure this is a pied billed grebe...and they are quite small compared to others.
Nice one Sharon.
Definitely an adult Pied-billed Grebe in breeding plumage.
I'm not certain if he's a grebe or not, but he's magnificent. :). And so is your photo of him.
Great photo of the bird and its reflection.
I think it's a pie-billed grebe and I know I love the picture and reflection!
Nice shot and reflection! As some of the others have said, it is indeed a Pied-billed Grebe.
Very cute shot of the Pied Billed Grebe!
A lovely shot, great reflection.
ohhh the photo has a sense of peace to it. So beautiful!
Pied-billed - nice lighting.
yup, pied-billed. adorable little things, aren't they? :)
it is a sweet water-bird and in beautiful light Sharon
Great shot. I have no clue about type.
I know nothing about bird types . . BUT - i know this is a great photo - Thanks!!!
love & love,
Nice picture - and as other people have said, grebes are hard to get good shots of.
Love the cat in the drawer!

PS: I was in central Australia all last week, hence slow reply!
Lovely photo! I will leave the identification to the others but (s)he sure has a cute face!
looks even better in the low sunlight. :) It is none of "our species" of that I am sure.
