Established in 1750, Colonial Park Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia, contains over nine thousand graves - but you'd never know it.
Savannah is notoriously haunted, and this corner of Abercorn and Oglethorpe is no different. There are crumbling crypts scattered and clustered, weeping oak trees, and broken grave markers adhered to a brick wall like musty relics in the devil's art gallery. It's spooky on a warm and misty morning and scarier still at night. But the park closes at eight p.m. sharp so the ghosts can roam tourist free.

Skull and crossbones.

I regret that I have not yet had a chance to visit Savannah. That cemetery looks like a place I would love to visit. The historical markers and gravestones were all very interesting to read.
Tus excelentes fotos, nos hacen ver lo interesante que es su visita.

WoW. There are some old ones there!!
Nine thousand graves?! That's huge! The place looks both spooky and interesting! The old, faded stones along the wall, the sign about the victims of the yellow fever pandemic, the sign about the duel victim - don't leave the visitor indifferent.
Visiting cemeteries is something I do every year. I go to the graves of my beloved, wash the headstone, lit a candle, say a prayer, read some stuff written by me over the years in praise of the deceased.
Now that's a spooky place indeed! Perfect place to spend Halloween. :-)
All the broken grave markers are kinda sad.
Great photos. Savannah is on my bucket list.

Greetings and Salutations! How appropriate to post photographs of old graves when it is almost Halloween. BOO! and Frightful! and Scary too! Great job, Sharon.
