Fort Zachary, the Southernmost State Park, harbors the largest cache of Civil War armaments in the world. The corridors are haunting, with cannons as black as the devil's musty soul. In fact, when we visited, there were more cannons than people, so Covid wasn't a concern. The weathered brick patina and Russian doll archways are a photographer's dream. Exit Duval street and the hub-bub of Key West, and follow our feet...
Peek-a-boo
I wish we would have had more time to explore the beach and nature trails. Next time.
Have a meaningful Memorial Day.

I love those old batterys (batteries?). They're beautiful and historic but also seem a little kooky to think that cannons where what they used. We have them around Sydney too.
That's a lot of brick!!! I do love the archways. It's quite a hauntingly photogenic place.
Looks like a great place to explore.
What a beautiful place. Love the myriad windows and arches, with your impeccable eye, they are magnificent.
A good Memorial Day post for a reminder of the sacrifice of veterans in so many wars.
Perfect post for Memorial Day! I would love to go back to Key West. We didn't tour the fort when we were there.
I'm truly impressed by the corridors, the bricks, the arches!
I don't remember entering a place that houses cannons or any sort of armament. I do remember, though, places with cannons displayed outdoors in parks or near museums (In Moscow, in Belgrade) and attracting a lot of visitors.
What an amazing place! I would love to visit. I do like the archways, and all the cannons are intriguing!
I love this and will have to add the fort to my bucket list. It reminds me of Fort Morgan further to the west of you in Alabama.
Greetings and Salutations! Enjoyed the cyber tour. Great photographs!
Fort Zachary looks like an interesting place to visit. With the largest cache of Civil War armaments in the world, my Mr Wren would love this! It looks a perfect away from it all escape, next time the beach beckons!

What a fabulous place for photos-with or without heads poking out :) The architecture is just amazing and so artfully useful.
Thanks for sharing your link at 'My Corner of the World' this week!
The beautiful fort left you no time for the beach.
I think I would want more time on the beach too. Love the pictures.
I love visiting old forts! Thanks for the party.
