We visited the Chaa Creek Museum last January, booking a private Morpho tour during our stay in San Ignacio, Belize. (the private part being a happy accident) It was the perfect rainy day activity. I mean, who doesn't love butterflies? Well, some weirdos are probably disgusted by an insect that digests its own body while manifesting from caterpillar to larvae. The life and times of butterflies sounds like a first-rate sci-fi movie. The end of their luminous trajectory, however, is a breezy, summer romance. Follow their wings...

A special vintage.
Alas, butterflies have a short lifespan. Beautiful Blue Morphos only live for three weeks.
A Green Malachite.
A Blue Morpho. (there weren't many flitting around during our visit)

What a great place to visit.
They are so, so beautiful. I love that blue morpho, and the surprise of the owl butterfly. Wow and wow! Thank you for the lovely pictures, even the green larvae are interesting. :-)
My grandson used to love butterflies when he was little. I remember we went to a butterfly park in Singapore years ago. So lovely.
What incredible shots of beautiful butterflies! Thanks for posting and for hosting! :)
Sharon - fascinating in every cycle of its life. We can take so many lessons from the butterfly. Thanks so much for bringing these sights to Mosaic Monday!
Well, I don't find the caterpillars so charming. But the butterflies are beautiful! Just love them.
Fascinating caterpillars and butterflies. How fortunate to be able to see them.
They are an amazing species. Beautiful in the end.
I agree with you that butterflies are playing flowers....
Thank you for sharing beautiful photos.
When I was a teacher I would bring caterpillars into the classroom so students could observe the transformation. This month we've had an explosion of moths. I happens on a 15 year cycle. Next year the larva will harm the trees no doubt. - Margy
Amazing isn't it, that a fat fuzzy caterpillar can become such a beautiful light winged butterfly.
Thanks for sharing.
