Spice and Vice

We took a Miami boat tour during our stay in South beach last Winter. I've never wanted to ride along with 5,000 souls attacking buffets, or hang my hat in closet sized cabins, (sorry cruise lovers) but I loved seeing cruise ship row. The massive beasts are like floating theme parks. It was cool. But, everything about South Beach is as cool as a tequila sunrise on Ocean Drive: Saturated color and vibrant murals, groovy architecture, wild parrots and even wilder people, aquamarine waters and delicious Cuban food. Spice and vice. Sunshine.

I (think) this is where they filmed Scarface.

My favorite part of the cruise, was floating by the massive container ships.

You get a very different perspective from the water. That line of cruise ships feels me with horror.

It's scary how many people must be on all those cruise ships, and it's just a tiny portion of the world's floating hotels. I agree with Fun60: it's horrifying. Yikes!

I love the sight of cargo ships and cranes. I like your perspective on them and the cruise ships. Maybe I'd do a cruise that goes through locks.

I agree with you about cruise ships - not my cup of tea. But touring them would be interesting. This is a fascinating look at Miami - especially seeing the houses from the water! Thanks for sharing with Mosaic Monday!

Great shots especially the contrast between the white world of the cruise ships and the freighters with the containers. I like that very much.

There sure is a lot to see there! We love the abundant FL sunshine too!

For budget conscious travelers, cruise is a good way to see multiple destinations at a cheap price.

the horror of cruising season is not far from kicking of in my neck of the woods although we only get one boat at a time...no room for more to dock. I do love coming over the range into town and seeing the big boats in the harbour below.

That South Beach little house looks like a very upscale float cabin. - Margy

That looks like a great tour. I would like it better than cruises. Cruises are okay but very expensive and the extras are huge cost.

Love all those blues.

I'm not much for cruises either, but I love anything by the water. I especially like your shots of the container ships.

Thanks for hosting Sharon! We enjoyed our small cruise ship much more than the giant floating cities ... for us it has always been the shore excursions anyway! I hope your Florida family is safe during this awful hurricane (or their home is, if they are safely “up North” as we are).
