Stems

I wasn't sure what we would see after all the leaves had fallen on this hike.  But look at the splendid contrast.  I think most of it was due to dreaded buck thorn growth.  Do you see the hawk in this photo?

Now you can see him.  I love the layers of fall color.

The sun sparkles.

Meanwhile the hawk hunts...

He thought maybe the view would be better from here before he finally flew off into the forest.

A splendid stem.

A fuzzy fall flower.

A splendid Fall day at Richardson Nature Center. Priceless.

That hawk is just gorgeous. I haven't seen any around here for a long while. That's probably just as well since we are so fond of our squirrel and chipmunk population. ;)

Great photos of a beautiful area.

I wasn't sure I saw the hawk in the first image...is it in the upper left center?

Wow...great zooming in on that beautiful bird!

And your scenery images along with the wildflowers in seed are incredible.

Lovely shots! You did a great job in capturing the hawk. I love the layers of colors in the fall, too. Right now it's looking very "November" around here: more brown and rusty red than the brighter colors of October.

You were so lucky to see the hawk. It has quite a regal look amidst that foliage. My daughter and family just moved to St Paul. I spoke with them yesterday and heard there is a bit of snow on the ground.

Your photos look like they were taken around the corner from me -- before a lot of snow and ice covered everything this week. Beautiful hawk!

It looks lie a juvenile Cooper's Hawk and an interesting thought is that this is probably the first time he has seen fall colors or I should say experienced fall because they don't really see colors the way we do. Very nice set of pictures and great catch on the Hawk ... we are cold, snowy and our trees are mostly bare ... Brrrr.
