Today I'm posting the full view of Heaven's Gate. For better or worse this naughty kitty was my first "baby" And although I named her Meiko, Baby stuck and that became her name. I thought this might be an appropriate Mother's Day post. So Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there. Even if all you have are human children. Not everyone is lucky enough to be blessed with the feline variety after all! But seriously... this painting really conveys who I am as an artist. It combines two of my favorite things to paint. Animals and weathered objects. As in the fence. If you're interested, click on the picture to enlarge it. And view the fence detail close up.

I see what you mean: the knotholes and battered boards are really telling close up. And the yellow butterfly and blue, blue sky! But mostly Baby with her mysterious expression. My cat is my baby, too, so I know how you feel. And I know your Baby right now is busy scratching at heaven's gate, stopping to swat the butterfly once in a while. Love, Margaret
That's my thoughts exactly Margaret. She never liked strangers, so she might get held back at the gate for eternity!
I really like the textural quality of this piece.
Me, too! You are very good at trees, bark and wood... have you ever considered becoming a forester? :)
Sharon, I'm sure Baby is inside the fence! I tho't maybe she was scratching from the other side: you know hhow they love a nice 2x4 as a scratching post.
