BLack River Falls

We traveled to my hometown last weekend in the wilds of Wisconsin. It sure looks better through wizened eyes. Now, I appreciate the rural beauty: rolling hills awash with wildflowers, far-away corn tassels dotting the land like a Monet painting, curious farm animals, and fruit ripe for the picking. Space, and the smell of pine.

The red dot above is the sun. Lately, it has resembled the red planet at sunset. Surreal, and almost has hard to breathe as Mars!

Castle Mound State Park

The Jackson County Fair.

We laughed at the romantic way the announcers described a cow's udders! It reminded us of the comedy Best in Show.

Cain's Orchard in Hixton, Wisconsin. Our favorite blueberry patch.

So you *can* go home again after all! The sun and sky pictures framed by (what I finally figured out was) wicker lawn furniture are stunning.

Such amazing rock formations and beautiful greenery in your home state! Glad you were able to visit.
The wildfire smoke in the air has sadly been terrible along the Colorado front range this summer! We were happy to travel up into the San Juan Mountains this weekend to enjoy the clear air and low temperatures.

Wonderful pictures as always and great use of that rattan chair. I would not have known that was the sun if you had not told me.

Sharon - we always appreciate our hometown more as we get older. Your photos show it off well. I think we are all experiencing red suns to varying degrees these days -- so sad. Thanks so much for linking to Mosaic Monday!

What a lovely display of fine photography and keen observation. I am smiling at just the thought of that romantic description of a cow's udders. LOL

The sun has been red here too due to the haze from the wildfires in northern Ontario.

The light hitting the rocks in the bush (woods?) is pretty impressive but blown away by that big red sun! How amazing.

Many, many years I spent a night in Black River Falls, WI on the way from Minneapolis ti Chicago. I remember having a good dinner there but the motel was a little seedy.

That sun does look a little alien. I've never explored the wilds of Wisconsin, but it looks beautiful!

Greetings and Salutations! I would love to try out that chair. What a view! Very creative shots using that chair. The sky is weird from the fires in Canada for sure. Interesting blog. Have a nice week end.

Your pictures are gorgeous. I live very close to Black River Falls. It's as beautiful as you describe. If you really want to see rolling hills, you need to come to my neck of the woods: Buffalo County. The most beautiful part of the state!
