Botany Bay, South Carolina, is now my favorite U.S. beach. The photo-ready, black, olive, and gold beaches of Hawaii are more beautiful. (although, I need to do more in-depth research on the islands, just to make sure) Sigh. Siesta Key, in Florida, has better sand. But it also has condos lined up like bumper cars. Lover's Key, my home-away-from-home, has the natural delights that I love: solitude and driftwood, seashells and ospreys, beach lovers like me. But it doesn't have the gnarly, grand cemetery of trees that is Botany Bay!
Follow my bare feet...
Take nothing. Leave only footprints.
It's hard to take a photo without rafts of pelicans.
Somebody snapped me snapping photos.

Gorgeous! Those luminous shells and the unusual sight of a tree on the beach. I agree with the "Take only photos, leave only footprints" rule and wish more would follow it.
the driftwood is amazing
Oh wow, I might have to add this to my bucket list. I love all the wood and I love how people have decorated the old limbs with shells.
Not sure how we missed Botany Bay. We spent a fair amount of time RVing in SC as our granddaughter and her husband lived in Charleston for several years. We would stay in an RV Park near them and then explore some other parts of the state as well after (or during) our time there. It does look like a wonderful beach and the "forest" growth reminds me more of the Pacific Coast then the parts of the Gulf and Atlantic that I know about. We have lovely greenery all the way down to the sand here. But I know for a fact (without ever having been there) that your bare feet will feel wayyyy better on the sands at Botany Bay than they would most of the year here in Oregon! (But you still should come visit "out west").
Sharon - isn't it a dream to find new favorite places? I am a little surprised to see all the dead trees along the shore. Is that normal? Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday with more of your precious travel photography!
So many photo opportunities and you have made excellent use of them. I like the pelicans flying in synchrony. The monochromes are a favorite too.
Great photos especially the pelicans.
Gorgeous! Will add to my road trip list.
That would be my favorite beach also...seashells. driftwood, pelicans. What's not to like?
What awesome beach scenes! I never get enough of the sea and the seashell decorations are so fun to see.
Thanks for sharing your link at My Corner of the World this week!
My favorite place to be is at the beach. This beach is now on my bucket list. It must be absolutely amazing in person. I think it will be bumping my #1 favorite beach down to #2!
Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos!
I love the bare trees in b&w. It looks like beachcombing paradise!
Greetings and Salutations! The choice of black and white format for the stark trees is perfect. Have a great week end.
I miss the beach. I grew up in California and used to go to the beach all the time when I was a kid. I love all the shells.
It looks very rustic. I like that. We really liked the Canaveral National Seashore which is also very pristine, more natural beauty.
