Duluth: July 4th Edition

The iconic Lift Bridge.

The most surprising aspect of our holiday in Duluth, Minnesota,(we're still up North) is the temperture. 90! Uff da Lutefisk. I love it. There's usually a brisk wind haunting the Northshore of Lake Superior, no matter what month you visit - not this weekend.

We've been walking, biking and boating high and low in search of the frigid North and can't find anything remotely cold. We have found millions of coral-colored pebbles and agates, infinite fresh water, and the best fireworks in the midwest. We're still having fun. See for yourself...

Pigpen eats.

Picnic fail.

Pink pebbles at Iona Beach.

We both have our own poses at Split Rock.

The Rose Gardens.

This chipmunk found a peanut butter cup.

I hope you had a sparkling holiday!

Duluth is normally cold, I've been in there in the summer where I had to wear sweatshirts and jeans and I was still shivering. But I've also been there on super hot days as well. You just never know with Duluth. I love the photos. I've been to all those places. The rose gardens are my favorite. Did you go to the tower? There are beautiful gardens up there as well. Enger Park it's called. Thanks for the party.

Fabulous! I had to puzzle out a couple of those pictures to tell what they were, but it was worth it, and you have outdone yourself once again!

Interesting collection of pics. We're in lockdown for the whole of the school holidays - had to cancel our trips. Very dull. No sparkle here!

Sharon - we suffered from the same heat wave in Montana - ugh. Visitors from Arizona were wishing they were at home!!! Thankfully, we are back to our normal temps and it is delightfully pleasant. Thanks for the summer scenes of Duluth for all our Mosaic Monday friends!

Hi Sharon! :) Oh what a beautiful spot! Partly reminds me of the Laurentian mountains where I used to live and the Atlantic coast where I know live! I love the fishing boat photo, and you make those hot dogs look so yummy! I love the heat too! :)

I have to confess that I was surprised at how interesting Duluth was when we stayed there. We found lots to do. And it really was the first Great Lake that I'd spent any time near and I understood a lot that I hadn't before. But whoa it WAS cold! I'm thinking it was probably May or June when we were there, flying direct from Florida. So yeah, that might explain things.

You are certainly enjoying yourself, judging by the photos! Thanks for sharing them with us so we can have a little fun, too :)

It's great to see your link at 'My Corner of the World' this week!

I love those view shots. The picnic table (or what is left of it) appears to have been swallowed up by the rocks!
