Florida's Old 41

Juvenile Night Heron dance.

The Everglades is a test. If we pass it, we may get to keep the planet. Marjory Stoneman Douglas

The scenery along old 41 resembles an endless, water-world: mazes of fringy, floating islands melting into big sky; playing endless games of alligator bingo; marveling at kingfisher high-wire-acts and drying Anhinga wings; spotting flashes of ethereal white egrets. In fact, there are wings-a-plenty everywhere. Follow our tracks...

I love that last quote! And your photos are wonderful. It's neat to be able to see up close the claws and details of these wild creatures. I love living in Florida! You never know what you'll see!

Interesting juxtaposition of birds and gators. I love that closeup of the bird feet. :-)

Beautiful photographs, I especially like the old wood stork and the alligators.

some of your birds are similar to our water birds we saw in the billabongs in our Northern Territory of Australia last year. This is the haunts of our crocodiles - not to be messed with. Stay safe, have a great week, and thank you for the link up.

Sharon - ok, those "feet" in your photos are just a little freaky. Thanks for sharing this fascinating variety of snaps with Mosaic Monday!

Love the feet! Gators are so cool but I'm sure you were careful because they are not super friendly.

Hoping we pass the test for years to come so the younger generation gets to enjoy this amazing world. What fun to be able to explore there. Great photos.
