The moon is my muse. I can't resist gazing skywards - I'm Moonstruck, pure and simple. (I loved the movie too)
I've painted the moon numerous times: inserting it in children's books, paintings and illustrations. I think about my large-sized drawing of an owl sitting on a winding staircase, with the moon - full and bright - hanging over head. Sadly, the drawing might not get the watercolor treatment. (my medium of choice) These days, novel writing is my singular focus. Art was a long chapter in my life - a chapter full of conflict and tears! Hopefully, art will be in my epilogue too.
More than anything, I've photographed the moon. Photography is threaded through the narrative of my everyday. I love the perfection of photography - something I could never achieve with paint. There's no improving the awe and beauty of Mother Nature.
In honor of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, I created a super-moon filled post.
I love this series.
