This hike was made for me. It was like walking on mars with the excited eyes of a child. Except there were no unpleasant Nasa snowmoblie suits, epic space travel or evil martians. It was easy terrain on ole planet earth. But lunar. Different.
An impossibly red trail winds into the canyon.
The hidden arch. We found it because someone told us where to look.
Everything is twisted in the desert. Some plants are lying around like old bones.
But some plants thrive!
Always cairns...
The hubbs!
A fuzzy bird.
Everything has an edge...
Or is searching...
This trail was so nice we did it twice. When we got back from our Sedona adventure, I put eight photos on My 3rd Eye The highlights.
Plus, there's more Sedona travel love this week over on my other blog, The Chorus of the Crows I wax poetic about my travel memories...

Spectactular photographs that you took on your hike. Love the red rock and blue twisted tree roots
I really liked Sedona but we didn't have a lot of time to hike around. We did two simple hikes. The trails I really wanted were out since I needed a high clearance vehicle to get to the trailhead. Next time, we are renting a jeep for the day (we saw that option on town). #TPThursday
What lovely shots of your hike!
How wonderful! Thank you so much for taking me along, too. :-)
Your second photo - the one that shows the red track and the bushes and plants is superb. The plants look like they are jumping out o f the photo they are so clear. Wonderful.
Stunning images :)
What a beautiful place! Nice shot of that lizard.
P.S. Everything I know about Martians came from My Favorite Martian.

It looks like this trail is quite scenic with the red layers in the rocks, the wild plant life, the birds and lizards. The various colors of red, blue, green, yellow - are a feast to the eyes.
Hello, looks like an awesome spot to visit. I love the bird, lizard and the hot air balloon. Great photos! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy weekend to you!
When we lived in Tucson for over a decade, we never tired of the beauty of the desert and Sedona. Everywhere we went the special atmosphere and scenery was eye catching.
Great images today!!
I thank you for sharing this post with all of us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin' this weekend!!!

Hello!:) Beautiful and colourful photos of your hike. Love the lizard image.
I just love a good canyon!
Gorgeous desert photos Sharon. The first time we spent a winter in desert country took me a while to see the subtle beauty...so different from the lush Pacific Northwest that was home. But I soon learned to love it as much.
Fantastic shots
What a place so colorful and wonderful photos ~ thanks, awesome!
Wishing you peace in your week ~ ^_^
What a hike, such a red desert. Great photos. Cairns are everywhere here in Tulsa also.
What a magical place. The thumbnail made it look good enough to eat. Maybe I have Christmas cookies on my mind.
I love red rocks and I love places like this. I will have to plan on going here.
Worth a Thousand Words
Wonderful desert shots.
I love the Sedona area...you're right, it's unlike anything else on earth, or at least in North America. I must remind my husband that I'd like to visit there again. But I suspect the naked eye cannot match the clarity of your lens...just gorgeous!
