High elevation, Orosi, Costa Rica.
In October, my blog should be named Sharon's Spirits, instead of Sharon's Souvenirs. I love Halloween, and string out my spooktacular posts all month long. This week, I haunted Orosi, Costa Rica. The scariest thing that happened while we were there, was a real-life earthquake. My first shake-up. Scary!
Follow my restless soul as it meanders through Orosi cemeteries. I never feel ashamed of walking through the plots of the dead, because when I'm six feet under, I'll welcome all comers. I mean, who wants to be forgotten? I hope to have a bench as my headstone, with an invitation to bring a cocktail to toast a life well lived. Plus, I hope to have carved stone books to represent the literary side of my life.
Graffiti across the street.
I love the otherness of exploring foreign cemeteries.

Happy Mosaic Monday

I also love old cemeteries! This one is fascinating.
For many years I was a volunteer at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. It is New York's oldest cemetery and not only historic but beautiful. Lots of old blog posts about it on my blog.
Experiencing an earthquake during your vacation is scary! You are not alone. I explore the graveyards too, there is so much unwritten history there of everyday people. Beautiful photos!

I loved it all except the spider, and then I got it twice! I look forward to more spookiness from you. :-)
Hay cementerios que están incluidos en las rutas turísticas. Yo he visitado uno de ellos y vi que la visita estaba justificada.
Sharon - such a different look and approach to the graves. Did you learn anything about how this method, as well as the tiled covering, came to be? I know in some places, such as Louisiana, burials are in mausoleums because of the water table. Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday, and spook on!
You should visit in the night for added spookiness. Nice to see Spiderman's grave :))
The cemeteries are so different there. I would love to walk through with my camera at hand. Beautiful photos!
I´m drinking coffee called Costa Rica when reading this. :)
Old cemeteries are interesting. I loved all the pictures.
Interesting looking cemetery, and what a wonderful view!
These are some wonderful captures! I like wandering in cemeteries.
Thanks for sharing your link at My Corner of the World this week!
I don't think you've meant to feel ashamed. are you? I've strolled thru many in Paris and the island in Venice. It's fascinating. Love that street art tho, fantastic!
I love to walk through cemeteries. You can learn so much history there!
