Bryce: Inspiration and Beyond

I can't believe we almost drove past the look-out at Inspiration Point. We had pulled over at almost every viewpoint on the way to the top, and were on the brink of scenic overload. But luckily we persevered, because we were rewarded with the best canyon vista yet on our descent. Hoo Doo? I mean, who knew? Bryce is simply awe inspiring - like landing on Mars.

Now, we've seen the big five. Is Bryce the best? It certainly has the most dazzling red rock canyon. I preferred Bryce over the monoliths of Zion, simply because it was more accessible. You could see the best of Zion doing a drive-by as well, but entering the park required taking a heavily loaded bus. In the end, my favorite Park is Arches by Moab. But all five are bucket list, must-sees. Follow our wheels...

I hope I've inspired you to visit Utah. I still have more photos! (not everyone is aware of its charms) Before our first trip, I'd tell people we were going to Utah and they'd ask: Why?

See above my friends.

I think I mentioned this before, I went on that horseback ride. I asked if there were any steep sections and was assured no. I should have known better but went anyway and there was no turning around despite my extreme fear of heights. The horse could sense my anguish and was jumpier than I'm sure he normally was. It was a terrible combination and was never so glad when a ride was over despite my love for horses and riding. - Margy

Beautiful photos. I guess I'd do a lot of looking down as the hikes there look very steep. I'm worried I waited too late in life to do much hiking there. Even the horseback ride looks very steep. How did you find the trails?

Oh my gosh, Bryce canyon looks like the shape and colors I saw during my cataract surgery. I've visited Bryce and the other Utah parks over 30 years ago. The beauty there left an indelible impression on me. Obviously. :-)

Beautiful photos!!
I spent 2nd through 6th grade in Price, UT, way north of the Parks but still in the high desert. I came to love the deserts and the mountains.

Sharon - we have been to Bryce but not the other parks in Utah. So much beauty, so little time! Maybe when we no longer can hike as much as we do now, we can take on the "bucket list" of visiting those national parks that have escaped us so far! Thanks so much for linking to Mosaic Monday!

People seriously asked that when you told them you were going to Utah? Wow! They must be clueless as to what is in this gorgeous state. We love Utah, it’s one of our favorite states to travel to. My favorite park is Zion but we loved Bryce too.

I've been to Bryce, Zion, Arches, Grand Canyon and several others and absolutely loved them all. Beautiful scenery, especially if you visit first thing in the morning before all the crowds arrive.
