The Grand Wash hike was a twisty-turny wonder, almost as narrow as a slot canyon. As we funneled up the wash, we swept past black varnish walls full of holes, caves and undulating texture. My husband was even color coordinated with the splashes of green dotting the trail. The best part of all - at least for me - was that it was flat. Easy!

What a find! It's a beautiful place, Sharon. Thanks for taking me along. :-)
We have many of the same type of rock formations in our neighborhood--they are fascinating to explore!
I like the green batches among the red and yellow rocks. The picture with the lizard is my favorite.
I am going on a road trip to Utah (Capitol Reef included) next week. Cannot wait. Love the photos.
Worth a Thousand Words

Fabulous rock formations Sharon
What a great looking place - it really does remind me of central Australia.

Stunning rocks! Gorgeous!
A fascinating place that I would love, as I can walk forever if it's flat!
The scenery and lovely things you found along the way are just amazing.
I appreciate your contribution to 'My Corner of the World' this week!

Nice rocks! Another hike to remember. Thanks for bringing the rest of us along :)
Your photos always make me want to hit the road!
I love this photos. I spent part of my childhood in the deserts of south central Utah and I sure do miss it.
Beautiful and amazed by it formation.

Beautiful photos of a spectacular area! That first shot of the wash with the high walls on either side send up the little yellow flag in my brain. An area you would want to avoid if there are any threatening thunder storms! I think they call that circular erosion "tafoni" formations. Very cool!
I've always been a lover of desert colors, especially I haven't been to a desert before. The Sky photo was the bomb, beautiful!!
