fish eye lens
I love the movement in this photo. I went on a Duluth waterfront photo safari while my husband was doing a 26.2 mile inline Marathon along the North shore last Fall. It was a beautiful crisp morning.
Sunbathing
There is no shortage of gulls to photograph. This one caught my eye because he chose to sleep in the middle of an empty parking lot all alone.
What lies beneath...
Can you guess what these are? They light up the iconic lift bridge at night.
Some local color.
Something old.
I had some fun framing the lighthouse inside these loops.
A pigeon in a puddle.
Yikes! This spider was even scarier in person. In fact, I didn't even know Minnesota had such huge spiders. He was at least 3 inches across. Luckily, I'm on a new photo safari with the hubbs in tow. At J. Cook State Park. Hopefully he can save me from spider attacks. Uff da.
Jungle shrooms. O.K. Minnesota doesn't have jungles or tarantulas. But our woods are just as thick.
Raging Mountain rivers. O.K. we might not have Mountains either. Darn. But we can be Minnesota Wild.

I have never been to Duluth though I am not sure why because I live in a neighboring state. You paint a pretty picture of your home town ... except maybe the spider. I think they call those wolf spiders. I saw many of them when I was in Washington State. They perhaps prefer the north. Beautiful series, Sharon and good for your husband doing the marathon.

i think they all those fishing spiders up north. down here, we get wolf spiders that are very similar. lovely pigeon shot, too.
Minnesota is a pretty state. You don't need mountains to be beautiful. ;))

I once mistook a fishing spider (Dolomedes tenebrosus) for a wolf spider.

I didn't know there were gulls that far away from salt water.
Extraordinary sharing here today. Love the 'shrooms [kinda resembles boobies...sorry!!] And the birds, water scenes...all superior Sharon.
I really don't like the look of that spider.
Mountains are overrated. Hills you can walk up are plenty. Wonderful photos. I especially like the puff balls :)

A great series of photos. I especially like the perspective you have captured in the first photo - and also the young gull sitting in the middle of the parking lot.

Beautiful day out and about! I love the glass mixed with between the boards. Clever art!
We stayed in an RV Park almost right under that beautiful bridge. We were surprised to find out we liked this city as well as we did. If that makes sense. Coming from the Pacific NW, we'd really never heard much about it at all. We had planned to just stay overnight and we extended for three nights and could have stayed longer happily.
Thank you for your input on the sugar and sprawl mess in Florida. We still love it here, but the state sure does have some problems. (I guess no place is perfect.)
Great set of shots - always something to photograph along a waterfront - although huge spiders are not always the most welcome!
