Spring Fling

We had such lousy weather this weekend that I was inspired to post what we enjoyed the previous weekend.  Spring!  It was 75 degrees and the woods were alive with new life.  This wavy bridge at Lebanon Hills has seen better days though.

The bright green moss was a huge pop of color among the leafless trees.

Sprouting to life.

The geese were making use of abandoned muskrat houses and setting up nests through out the marsh.  Our bird highlight of the day was two Trumpeter Swans that heralded their arrival overhead.  Although, they landed too far away to photograph.

An alert pair.

A circling duck.  This breed would twirl and twirl for his dinner.

More exploding moss.

A Red Sided Garter Snake.  There were so many snakes rustling about that we lost count.

A few berries still lingered in the trees.  Have you had your Spring Fling yet?

Beautiful, Sharon. I love that wavy bridge, and the pretty moss. I see lots of that around here... :-)

I especially love moss and I really like the detail you caught of it in the photos. I was a long, hard winter, and it feels like spring isn't springing fast enough for me this year. But if the snakes are out, they must know better weather is coming!

Great photos of your day! I love the close up of the moss--great details!

One thing about warmer weather I am NOT happy about is the snakes. :-(

Great shots. The moss is so pretty and believe it or not I think the snake is too.

Love the first shot and that Northern Shoveler with his head underwater. But, the snake scares me even though I know it isn't poisonous.

Your lovely weather brought some beauty out to your world, for sure. That moss.. if you get the chance to get up close and personal with a macro lens.. has an amazing world of its own. I once got lost in it for a half hour and could hardly stand up when done.. but it's amazing. Fine photos all around.

Beautiful shots! I especially love the goose on the nest, the exploding moss, & the snake! It's been in the 40's here this week. It seems we're heading in the wrong direction!

Nice pictures - I really like the mod lawns, they are fun to photograph. We saw was will probably be the last snakes for a while a week or so ago.

Great post and beautiful photos Sharon. For us, snake season means rattlesnakes.
