Goose and Gosling

Just a simple goose and gosling for Wild Bird Wednesday .  You always know when you run into a wild goose on the trail by how fast they swim away from you.  And these two were wild.  Unlike all the city geese that populate our lakes here in Minneapolis.  I spotted this pair at Murphy Hanrehan Park Reserve this spring.  My first gosling spotting of the season.

Awww just the one, eh? That looks like it was just hatched that day. They grow so quickly.

I think the first newly hatched bird of the year is an important thing to see.

what a gorgeous shot this is...our village 'hosts' a couple who have a good sized gaggle each year-this year Momma had 6 who are adolescents already..

Nice shot! We actually have three goose families that have goslings on the pond this spring! I smile every time I see them.

Very nice photo! I was at a pretty obscure lake last week and there were geese in both categories. The most interesting thing was the Canadian geese who decided to stop migrating and stay our here full time. They are pretty bold and don't act scared at all. They are big and I think they feel superior to us!
