I just watched the movie Pulp Fiction again. It gets better and better every time I see it. This time I noticed little details and cameos that I didn't remember seeing before. It is my husband's most quoted movie. Here's one that fits today's post. "Do you mind if I have a sip of your tasty beverage?" Refresh is the theme over at www.illustrationfriday.com this week. And if you haven't been to their new and improved website it is worth a gander.
My Thirsty Bird vignette is a prehistoric piece from my basement files. But it is fresh meat for illo Friday. I painted the bird with a lot of metallics. I don't do that any more because metallic paint doesn't scan very well. But I did this little piece before I had a scanner. Can you imagine not having a scanner? The good old days...

Hi Sharon, I love your thirsty hummingbird, so cute! I think the new IF site LOOKS really pretty but I complain: art links don't go back to website unless you click on the submitters name which means people will be less likely to leave comments and you can't count your hits...and I'm addicted to statistics AND comments. What do you think of it?
So glad you brought it up from the basement--it's so...refreshing! I'll bet with the metallic highlights it looks fabulous in real-time! In spite of the scanning issues, it still looks great!
Cute little hummingbird! Great job on that! I also LOVE Pulp Fiction. I don't like John Travolta very much and I thought he was great in it. I don't know how many times I've seen it, but it's many.
We love your hummingbird. He was really thirsty!

Very cool idea. Why should a humming bird have to sip when he can use a straw?
So pretty! I really like it, Sharon. I hope you are keeping cool these days.
Love Thirsty Bird! I like Pulp Fiction too, except that it's a bit too long - those pot belly scenes have to go!
Oh Sharon, he is adorable.
Sorry I have been such a bad blogger lately. Between the spay/neuter events (there are kittens every where right now) and trying to get my yard in shape before the summer heat arrives I can't seem to spend any time at all on my blogs. Hopefully things will be slowing down soon so I can spend more time visiting everyone.
And I just have to ask, do you think anyone called the Squirrel Queen could ever consider you too silly? LOL!
Hugs,
Judy
