Separated

The theme of separate over at www.illustrationfriday.com could be interpreted in so many ways.  But I selected a completely new and terribly old piece for it. (click to enlarge) It is brand spanking new to my blog.  But painted in 1998.  The land and ocean blend together but are two separate things.  My favorite part of the painting is the merging of the mangoes in the bowl with a sea urchin.  Given my love of the jungle and ocean I'm surprised I haven't painted more pieces like this.  But tomorrow is a new day...

It's beautiful, Sharon. It feels very tropical and yet there's a bit of lushness not related to the tropics, more like a dream...

Very pretty...I like the look of the roll/movement of the water and her very graceful hand holding the mango. I just finished eating a snack of mango jam and cream cheese with pretzels! :)

So beautiful and dreamlike. I like how she looks at the mango as she holds in her hand. She looks as if she is about to kiss the delicious fruit.

Very interesting painting. I think my favorite bits are the school of fish on the right and the really nicely done dress. But I love the banner at the top of the page (even though you are clearly a cat person, lol. That poor puppy.) It's a really great scene.

The painting makes me forget how cold it is over here at my old farm home and I pretent its warm outside like in the photo!
