The Andrew Low House

Today, war in Ukraine surpassed one hundred days. In America, mass shootings are outnumbering trembling fingers. Long, unhappy sigh.

The Andrew Low House, in Savannah, Georgia, is also a location of history and pain. It is the former home of Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts. The home itself is a striking and beautifully appointed example of Southern architecture. But it is also the former home of enslaved Americans. It's no wonder Savannah is eternally haunted by disgruntled spirits.

Follow my feet...

The most interesting part of the house was the fifty pound books and the silver doorknobs. Plus, a unique wooden loo.

This bathroom was my favorite room.

P.S. Don't worry blogging friends, I plan to post weekly travel updates on my new author website! I'll be posting here, at Sharon's Souvenirs until September.

Juliette's home is truly lovely! So many beautiful antiques. It looks as if it is waiting for her to return home at any moment.

I was a Girl Scout for many years and loved being a part of the organization.

Thanks for hosting!

In elementary school, I read a biography of Juliette Lowe when she was a child. It’s interesting to see her house. Didn’t imagine her house that way at all. :-)

I love the little table at the foot of the bed. I've never seen anything like that! And I always like to see the children's rooms and their dolls and toys. What a beautiful home.

Sharon - we have visited this house, and I had forgotten many of the details. So wonderful to see it again through your eyes! I especially liked your shot of the silver doorknob! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!

Quite remarkable! Sad about the disgruntled spirits.

oh such beautiful architecture and furnishings - truly from another era - though sad era for those enslaved. I cry to for the war that continues in the Ukraine. I hope they could find a peaceable solution - but I don't think it is likely. Thankyou for taking us to Savannah. It reminds me of Gone with the Wind. Stay safe, enjoy your week, and thank you again for the link up.

Those stairs to climb into bed always perplex me - how high is the bed? Surely stairs are harder rather than easier?
