The Gardens at Lake Atitlan

I took my new camera on a photo safari at the historic, Hotel Atitlan in Panajachel, Guatemala last January. To be sure, wandering the five star hotel and grounds - with picture-perfect volcano views - was an amazing way to spend our first full day in Guatemala. I love the beginning of a trip, when the whole adventure is still un-lived and full of great expectations.

This is what we saw...

The blue dome above reminded me of a little bit of Greece in Guatemala. I'd love to buzz back here, and land on that heli-pad!

Nothing can compete with the views of the volcano!
You're right about the lookout with blue dome reminding one of Greece.

Fabulous resort! I bet some guests just stay right there -- I'm glad that for you, no matter how beautiful, it was just the first day of your adventure!

Beautiful photos! Every time I've seen pictures of Lake Atitlan I think that I would love to go there - need to add it to my list!

Amazing to think these are shots JUST at the hotel - fabulous. (Given recent events with tourist boats in Missouri, the shots of boats jammed with people scared me just a little …) Thanks for hosting this blog hop!

I love the first shot and the blue on blue on sky, pyramid, water, dome. Wonderful! And I like that you showed a wider pic of it too so we could see it in context too.

I love that weird tiki-god-looking pot (photo 7). Very interesting and unusual!

Gorgeous! What a surprise to find you were featuring Guatemala and not Greece. I love the plant pot with the big giant face.
