Tybee Island, Georgia

No visit to Savannah, Georgia is complete without a little spree to Tybee island. Another plus, is that you can stop at the Waffle House and get some waffles to go on your way back to town. Actually, the first thing we did after leaving the Atlanta airport - on our drive to Savannah - was a peach pit stop at a local fruit stand for a basket of fresh Georgia peaches. They go so well with waffles.

But back to Tybee - it's a great place to beat the Savannah heat.

Horse shoe crab.

Weird bug.

Electric blue crab.

Ugly feet on swirling sand.

Is that a bird or a plane?

We didn't climb the lighthouse because we thought the entrance fee was too steep. Or was it the steps?

At low tide Tybee is a great place for a pretty walk on the beach. Afterwards, stop by the Sundae cafe for some great food. There's no outdoor seating - sigh- and it's in a strip mall, but they have great hush puppies and fresh Georgia shrimp.

Hahaha, i thought on the thumbnail, that crab is the island! What a big one. What birds'eye view lens did you use to get that curve photos?

This is a really lovely beach! Your photos are wonderful. You went on to Savannah from here? My daughter and I went to Savannah 18 years ago and I just was reading the journal entries about it! It was a special trip.

Love the horseshoe crab shot. Was that taken with a fisheye lens? LOL at the "ugly feet" shot... very creative and fun!

I like your priorities! Peaches and waffles! That sounds great. This island looks so beautiful. I didn't know it is close to Savannah. Have to add it to my bucket list. #TPThursday

I think it is a plane. Love the photo of the ship and I've never seen a horseshoe crab before!

Hello!:) Wonderful beach scenes,...even the feet, I love walking bare foot on the sand. Great sightings of the crabs, the blue one is pretty, yes, actually pretty! I must remember to try peaches with crepes next time we eat crepes.

It looks like the sky and water are blue wherever you go, even the crabs. (Love that shot.)

I don't have any idea what that bug is, and hope I never run into one.

It's beautiful -- we visited it while in Savannah. We blamed the steep price, but that wasn't completely honest.
