Black footprints in the sand

Font size

Today's post is about footprints. When we were on vacation in Costa Rica this year I photographed our footprints. And my blog posts are just like those footprints. Footloose and fancy free.

But when I was thinking about what I could paint for http://ripplesketches.blogspot.com/ I thought about those same footprints. But this time in a more serious way. I thought about how each and every one of us leaves an oily footprint. And maybe we should all try to leave a lighter imprint behind. I don't want to preach, so that's all I'm going to say on the subject. The ripple blog is raising money for The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies and The International Bird Rescue Research Center. And has raised around $500 dollars so far.

Here's how it works. An artist paints a small original piece and donates it to the blog. People can go to the ripple blog, donate 10 bucks to one of the charities and pick out a piece of art. I bought one myself. And I feel so good that I might have caused a small ripple of change. So can you.

Love the black footprint. so symbolic for the oil spill. I'll come back and donate soon...

My hubby would be so jealous... he was born with an extra bones spur in both feet, so his footprints look very "abnormal", completely missing the hollow arch portions...

The footprints (both kinds) are very cool! I love watching my footprints in the sand and the way the water erases them.
The blog/charity sounds interesting...will check it out.

Great idea, Sharon, with the black footprint. I'll go over and check out the site.

Check out Bruce Cockburns "No Footprints" off his Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws Album. You will love it I think.

That's right ... everyone must leave a trace behind us to bring a change for the better for someone else.
Image is very suggestive.
Success in fundraising!
An excellent day full of relaxation you want!
