I'm Taking a Magical Mushroom Tour

A magical mushroom tour is exactly what we experienced hiking in Wisconsin this month. Who knew you could have so much fun in the land of cheese, right? Unfortunately, I'm going to have to disappoint you a little bit. All the magic was strictly visual. No Russian roulette games of ingesting highly posionous vs. just slightly toxic shrooms. And no "trippin" other than our weekend getaway. So now that I've spoiled all the fun let's get back to the journey. The first hike was taken on a deer trail. A well worn path around a hill and through the woods. The destination was our blackberry patch. And we were rewarded with a bumper crop. But since picking is literally a bloodsport, we left plenty for the bears. Since this is an art blog as well as photography, I threw in a little mushroom art as well. I hope you'll play along with me this week because I have more mushrooms than I could fit in one post. But if you're the sort of person that thinks mushrooms are mundane...not magical. I cut my tour short. Only five more to go.

Oooo! I love mushroom pictures. Is that red one an amanita?? If so, then you definitely could have a magical mystery tour. Great shots, and I look forward to more!!

When I was a kid, mushrooms always gives me an impression that it is something magical or supernatural, maybe because of seeing an illustration of a dwarf sitting under a big mushroom, and from then on when I see mushrooms, I always stare at them and waited for dwarves to come out of it. hahaha. Nice photos Sharon, mushrooms remains mysterious to me.

Oooooh, please take me with you next time you head out to WI! I'm super-close to the border and would love to 'shroom it up (figuratively of course) with you!

I love this theme, Sharon! Very unique! The top one seems to be huge; I guess because it's on a slant of a hill? The red one looks like a ball of cheese; it's so perfectly round! Nothing is better than your charming illustrations; these look like ladies bowing and curtseying under their parasols: so pretty. The next one looks like something living, a crab, maybe, with its red and yellow back. And oooh, the last one! We're ready for Halloween with these grey little goblins! Thanks, Sharon! That was fun!

Do you know what the girl mushroom said to the boy mushroom?

I like you. You're a Fungi!

I was looking through my little box of jewels and I found your name. A little sparlke went off in my mind and I decided to travel in one of my bubbles to your site.
Little did I know that I would find a talented photographer of mother natures and an artist that brings smiles to faces. I looked at EVERYTHING! I enjoyed my visit.
What a miracle it was that you came to say hello to me. How did you know I would enjoy what you do?
Come back again

You have such great mushrooms where you are, I rarely see any at all here. The bright red one is beautiful.
